There are many form of producing water power. Mainly they work on mechanical producing electricity.
Waterwheels used since hundreds of years to power mills and machinery.
Hydroelectricity usually referring to hydroelectric dams.
Dam less hydro used from the stream of rivers, streams and oceans.
Tidal Power captured from energy of the tides in horizontal direction.
Hydroelectric power is less expensive compared to other electric generating sources like fossil fuels or nuclear energy. The advantages of hydroelectric dams is their ability to handle all climate changes such as when demand increases.
